Choose the wave direction
Compare the tracks across a full garment outline, not just one zigzag. On a coordinated top and skirt, decide whether the wave direction should continue between the pieces. A contrasting underlayer can make the open areas more visible; a pale foundation brings the yarn colors closer together.
Lay out hems and closures
Mark the placement of cuffs, plackets and hems on the sample. Review which part of the wave falls at each edge and trial the finish through that section. For a fitted garment, assess the extension and recovery needed along the actual cutting direction.
