Choosing an openwork lace design

Consider what shows through the pattern

The spaces between motifs let the fabric beneath become part of the design. Place a sample over your chosen fabric to compare the outline, contrast and amount of coverage.

Plan the edge and attachment points

Look at where the motifs connect and where the trim can be sewn. For a hem, cuff or border, share the intended placement along with your preferred width.

What does water-soluble lace mean?

It is embroidered on a temporary backing that is removed during production, leaving the connected lace pattern. The finished lace has no permanent mesh ground.

Is water-soluble lace always polyester?

No. The collection includes polyester, cotton and blended styles. Water-soluble describes the production method; check each product for its material.

Can I ask for a different motif or width?

Yes. Send a sample, photo or sketch with the width, material and use you have in mind. We’ll discuss how to develop the pattern and make a sample.
